The State Room Boston Wedding Lindsay Hite Photography

Sometimes, as a wedding photographer, there’s one wedding that stays with you through the years. That was the case with Sarah and Justin’s elegant State Room wedding. Speaking with them on the phone leading up to the wedding, it was clear that the bonds that hold them to their friends and family are so strong that distance and time hold no power over these relationships. From the moment Sarah from Brilliant Event Planning introduced me to this couple and their families, I knew I was in for a treat. As you’ll see through these photographs, family and friends are everything to Sarah and Justin.

An Elegant Autumn Wedding at The State Room

Sarah and Justin’s pure excitement about getting married kept them and their entire bridal party warm during the portraits of a very sub-zero day in November. Looking back now, all I see is the warmth in their smiles, and laughter. From the very first moments at the Ames Hotel Boston, like when Sarah’s Mom, Beth, and sister Sharon saw her for the first time, and when the father of the bride, Larry, saw his little girl all grown up… The laughter between Sarah and Justin during their joyful first look… to their first dance as husband and wife to “You Send Me…” to the final moments of Sarah and her sister tearing up the dance floor… each beautiful moment was filled with love and laughter.

The importance of family and friends was so evident at their Old South Meeting House wedding ceremony. Sarah’s 90-year-old grandfather, who has been married to Sarah’s grandmother for more than 60 years, officiated their ceremony. “We thought, who better than someone who has been in a wonderful, loving marriage for that long,” Sarah shared. There were looks of pride and love from family and friends all throughout the day. It’s clear these two have many BIG fans.

It was so special sharing Sarah and Justin’s cinematic premiere across the country, and designing their beautiful linen bound album with them. But what I also loved just as much was a very special in person premiere with Sarah’s parents as Sarah and Justin were skyped in to enjoy reliving the day all over again, listening to her parents’ cheers and cries of joy as the slideshow played. Then, Sarah’s parents and I designed a gorgeous album just for them which was tailored around their experience and reliving the day from their perspective – so the photo choices were a bit different than Sarah and Justin’s.

I so enjoyed photographing this wedding, and was so pleased when it was recently featured in Boston Magazine. Justin and Sarah, congratulations again. I wish you so much continued happiness in your life together and I am so happy to share the beautiful photographs from your fall wedding at the State Room today!
