Hotel Commonwealth Boston Wedding Lindsay Hite Photography

Last August, I had a fantastic time as the wedding photographer for Luri and Chris at their Hotel Commonwealth wedding in Boston, MA. This wedding was both modern as well as traditional, which beautiful Korean elements from the bride’s heritage. I’m so glad I got to be a part of it!

Luri & Chris’s Hotel Commonwealth Wedding in Boston, MA

Luri and Chris have such a beautiful connection. They truly have grown up together! Their friendship and young love have grown into a rock solid foundation for a supportive and loving partnership. They have given themselves the freedom to pursue their careers and yet, they have remained each other’s best friend through it all. Their first look was so sweet and genuine as their joy and elation at seeing each other spread across their faces in huge smiles.

Family is very important to both of them. Throughout the wedding, they were able to pay tribute to their families in both large and small ways. Chris had a sprig of Rosemary tucked into his boutonniere, honoring his late mother. And with Luri’s dad seeing her for the first time, and her hugs with her mom right after she put her dress on, I almost lost it! You can definitely see the love Luri’s parents have for her in these photographs. And I thought it was amazing how Luri was able to pay homage to her heritage with all of the traditional Korean elements this wedding had to offer!

The wedding was hosted at Hotel Commonwealth, which is very close to the campus where Luri and Chris met and fell in love, Boston University. Chris’ father was actually on the faculty there. Hotel Commonwealth is a gorgeous hotel right next to the iconic Kenmore Square. The architecture is signature to Boston and the amenities are fantastic! It’s definitely a prime spot for any and all wedding events.

There were traditional Korean geese placed at the ceremony, and then afterward, they were moved into the reception, where each guest had their own Mandarin duck place card. Mandarin ducks are used in Korean wedding ceremonies due to the belief that Mandarin ducks mate for life. I thought that was a really nice touch with keeping the wedding traditional.

When it was time to get up and dance, you better believe this family knew how to have a party! There was a custom neon sign on the dance floor and the walls were illuminated with violet lighting. It was elegant and modern and really brought good vibes to the reception. Luri and Chris both even had their own signature cocktails! Luri, who is a dentist, had the ‘Rinse & Spritz’. Chris practices law, so of course his cocktail was dubbed the ‘Esquire’.

Another fun activity was their Gif Booth from BostonGIF. It was such a fun, unique interactive activity for the guests at the wedding. It really captured the energy of the event and gave guests a way to instantly share the moments from the wedding.

All in all, this was a beautiful wedding full of tender moments and happy people. Thank you to my amazing second shooter, Gina Marie Brocker for helping me to document this wonderful wedding. And I also need to thank Sarah from Brilliant Event Planning. She was fabulous to work with and pulled off the couple’s vision for their wedding day flawlessly. It’s so wonderful to be able to work with such amazing Boston wedding vendors.

Chris and Luri, I wish you both the very best that life has to offer, and I can’t wait to see where the future takes you! Cheers, you two!
