Will + Brett Odyssey Boston Wedding
Will and Brett were married on October 21 with a ceremony at Odyssey Boston and a Boston Harbor Cruise reception.
When I spoke with each of Will and Brett’s parents, it was clear how much they admired and respected their sons and the men they have become. Both Will and Brett spoke of each other’s generosity and care in such beautiful terms that I knew this day would be full of joy all around. They were so excited to host their friends and family in a beautiful yacht floating through Boston Harbor with amazing views. People traveled from near and far to show their support for this couple. The celebration on the boat continued strong into the evening.
My second shooter, Jake Belcher and I began at Will and Brett’s apartment in the Seaport of Boston. The grooms were each getting ready separately with their grooms’ parties. We met up for their first look at the Harborwalk in Seaport, overlooking the Odyssey and Rowe’s Wharf in Boston. This is one of my favorite views of the city, and a beautiful place for portraits—especially on a gorgeous autumn day!
Will is color blind, and Brett found these amazing sunglasses that allow color blind people to see the hues they have been missing their entire lives up until that point. Shortly after their first look, Will and Brett exchanged gifts. Will was completely blown away by Brett’s extraordinary gift. He was literally seeing the world with new eyes on their wedding day! The entire family knew how meaningful this was for Will. It was an extremely powerful moment for everyone. This beautiful, thoughtful gesture clearly showed how much these two truly care for each other. It illustrated how they will help each other overcome adversity throughout their lives together in order to celebrate the joy.
One of my favorite images was of Will and Brett in silhouette on the boat. Before the ceremony began, I took them aside for a moment alone. The couple watched their guests board the boat, and shared a private moment before they publicly declared their love and commitment to each other up on deck. Will and Brett loved this photo so much that it became a double spread in their album.
The ceremony was an emotional moment for everyone involved. The day was filled with so much love and joy. One of my favorite moments was when Will and Brett embraced at the end of the ceremony and birds took flight overhead. Brett’s grandfather had passed away earlier in 2017, and they were very close. After the wedding, they shared with me that they felt his presence when the birds flew overhead on such an important moment.
Will and Brett put so much of themselves into their wedding day. Their favorite drink to make at home when they are hosting friends is a Moscow Mule. I was lucky enough to enjoy one when we had their at-home Cinematic Premiere! With a nod to this favorite cocktail, the favors for their guests were Take-home copper mugs with name cards.
One of my personal favorite moments was the dance floor! When the song “Let’s Have a Kiki” came on, everyone went wild! The DJ’s lights changed colors, the boat’s dance floor steamed up and the guests danced to the choreography they all knew. Someone handed Will and Brett a bottle of champagne and it made the rounds in celebratory fashion!
